Why do I need a membership?
In order to obtain a full ABC permit we had to become a "private club". In order to sell liquor in North Carolina, an establishment must either:
Have 30% food sales
or
Become a private club
Since we do not have a kitchen, we fall in the private club group.
The NC Alcohol Beverage Commission (ABC) and the NC Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) work together to write, implement, and enforce state laws that pertain to private clubs. Undercover investigations by field agents are frequent. Any violations written can be detrimental to the continued operation of the facility and costly fines are accessed for any non-compliance. According to North Carolina state law, any facility operating as a private club, MUST require membership – and only members of that club are allowed to sign-in guests or underage patrons.
How much does it cost to become a member?
Memberships are $ 5.00 per year.
How do I become a member?
Fill out a membership application online, at the pub, or print, fill out, and bring it with you to the pub. There is a link to both the online application and the printable application on the sidebar. All info is required by ALE. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OLD.
I filled out a membership application but never received my card?
Pick it up the next time at the pub. We DO NOT mail out membership cards. We must wait at least 3 days from the time you apply to issue the card.
Do I have to pay a cover charge as a member, or why do I have to pay a cover charge if I am a member?
Yes, you still pay a cover charge. Cover charge goes to pay the band, not the pub. The membership entitles you to enter the pub any night we don't have bands FREE of charge. It allows you to escape the $ 5.00 guest fee all others must pay when they enter.
How many guests can I bring in with me?
As many as you want. All you have to do is sign them in as your guest and they pay an extra $ 5.00. If they want to take the time to fill out a membership application they will become a member the next time. So basically, you pay an extra $ 5.00 each time you come or you fill out an application and pay $ 5.00 once.
